Getting Older. Getting Stronger.
A conversation about nourishment, resilience, and supporting our bodies for the long haul.
Lately it feels like every conversation with women over 40 eventually circles back to one of three things:
Protein. (it’s everywhere - are you wondering what all the hype is about?)
Bone density. (yes, this is serious business)
And trying to remember why we walked into the kitchen. (not joking)
Not exactly the glamorous aging narrative we were sold.
But underneath the jokes, there’s something real happening. Many women begin noticing subtle shifts:
less strength
lower energy
changes in appetite
slower recovery
concern about bone health
confusion about what “healthy eating” even means anymore
And somehow nutrition has become both wildly overcomplicated and strangely disconnected from actual daily life.
One article says eat more protein. Another says don’t eat too much. Social media insists we should all be drinking fluorescent powders from giant tumblers while doing lunges in matching outfits.
Meanwhile many women are just trying to figure out what to make for dinner again. (a recurring theme with our clients…and ourselves)
We’re both 56 and these topics are near and dear to us both. Nourishment and aging is something we need to understand better. Not from a place of fear, but from a place of support.
What does it really mean to nourish ourselves well as we get older?
Not punish.
Not restrict.
Not chase some impossible version of wellness.
Just… support.
Support for muscles.
Support for bones.
Support for energy.
Support for the ability to live fully and independently for a long time.
One thing that keeps coming up in our conversations and research is how important protein becomes as we age, especially for women. Are you getting enough? Is there a best time? Also…. bone health turns out to be about much more than calcium supplements and the occasional yogurt.
It’s also about:
movement
strength
sleep
overall nourishment
consistency over time
Nothing flashy.
Which is both, quite literally, the annoying part and the hopeful part.
We’ve created a workshop around these ideas. The thing we’re most excited about is simply creating space for grounded conversation. The kind where women can ask questions without feeling judged or overwhelmed.
We too, are humans trying to age well in real bodies, with real schedules, real stress, real grocery bills, and occasionally very uninspired lunches and leftovers. We look forward to seeing you Thursday.
The workshop is this Thursday June 11th 6:30pm EST. $25.
When you register, you’ll get the link and the recording. And if you can’t make it live, you will get the recording.
If you’ve got specific questions, let us know in the comments. We’d be super happy to address them during the workshop.
